Saying Bye to Sol – Inevitable Transitions

FullSizeRender (1)Life is really just one transition after another. Some of them are desired and some of them ‘not so much’.  And, as much as we might like to take a time-out from the evolution of life, that really isn’t something within our control, is it?

My gorgeous puppy Solomon (a 16 year old puppy) made his transition from his physical body a few weeks ago. It had been a gradual decline over the past year, looking back I can see the changes much more clearly than when we were evolving through them. Still, it seemed like the end came awfully fast!

If you’ve been a NeftTI newsletter reader for any time, I’m sure you know Solly.

He was such a teacher for me that he often showed up in one way or another in this space. And if you’ve taken training or certification programs with NeftTI – well, you really know how much love flowed back and forth between he and I. Some of you will remember that on more than one occasion over the past several months as his ‘fluid release schedule’ became much more unpredictable, I needed to interrupt our telecalls and sessions to take him outside.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Sixteen years comes with a lot of memories. And even though I wasn’t a perfect pet companion by any means, I have no regrets. I do have an enormous amount of gratitude, most especially for Gayle, the world’s best ‘pet sitter’, who took Sol into her home over many years and allowed me to teach and travel knowing that he was well taken care of. That was a huge gift.  And for the professionals who supported him and I over his last few days. I am especially appreciative of their willingness to be clear and specific about what needed to be done for him. Students of EFT will recognize the gift of being clear and specific!

And I’m grateful for EFT/tapping. It was so powerful in allowing me to stay present during his final months and hours. Even as he and I had our final meal – a McDonald’s Happy Meal. We both enjoyed that!! It’s helping me move through the inevitable transitions that his death requires of me. Through the grief – yes. And also through the relief. And through the examination of the possibilities that lie ahead for me.

A teacher of mine once said that “all change – whether it is desired or not – needs to be grieved“. Because each change means that something has to be let go of, something is no longer part of your life.

In this busy fall season of moving back into activity after the summer time, I hope that you give yourself the time to tap through your transitions so that you stay open-hearted to what’s possible for you and yours.

Thanks for caring and happy tapping!
Nancy
