Turning Challenges into Positive Milestone Moments

brokenpipeHave you ever faced challenging moments and felt overwhelmed, upset, angry or lost in how you will handle it? I know I have, but I have discovered a way to take those challenges and turn them into something I call “milestone moments”.

It was an interesting winter – wasn’t it? I’m using the past tense … I sure hope that’s accurate! It was only a few weeks ago when I faced one of these great milestone moments when a frozen pipe in my house burst, 2 days before I was due to fly out to Myrtle Beach for a week. When I heard a loud crack, I investigated but couldn’t find anything unusual. My reaction to this event would have surprised any ordinary person.

My Milestone Moment # 1

Rather than pretending that everything was okay, I trusted my intuition. I FELT something wasn’t right so a little while later I investigated again. This time I found water flowing, quickly, into my basement and the little red triangle on the water meter going ‘round and ‘round – a mile a minute.

One of the things I love about consistently using a powerful personal change modality like EFT/Tapping is that, every so often, you get a chance to see, super clearly, how you have changed and how your life has changed.

Instead of being reactive or panicking., I was immediately flooded (pun intended) with gratitude. This took me by surprise.

  • Grateful that I’d trusted my intuition.
  • Grateful I’d found it before it was too bad.
  • Grateful that it happened while I was at home and not the next week when I’d be away.
  • Grateful that I knew how to turn off the water supply to the house.
  • Very grateful that I’d stored a couple of big emergency water bottles – I could still flush the toilet!

Even though it felt a tad strange not to be upset, I really liked it! That’s what EFT is all about, teaching our bodies and minds to sustain peace inside, regardless of the conditions outside of us.

My Milestone Moment # 2

Another ‘milestone’ was that I immediately asked for help. Honestly, not too long ago I would have expected myself to handle this on my own, sigh. I phoned a friend and asked for a plumber reference and then called the plumber’s emergency number.

My Milestone Moment # 3

Since there were so many people with plumbing issues at the time, I was plumbing triaged. I had the choice to deal with the issue when I returned from holidays or stay in contact with the plumber while in the US so he could fix it while I was away.

Even though my goal has been to figure out how to connect with Canada from the United States so I could work from warmer climates, I have had a bad case of ‘roaming charge’ fear and had been procrastinating for a couple of years. This time – I took a deep breath, tapped a little and asked someone under the age of 25 to help me figure it out. Of course, it turned out to be super simple.

All that fear and resistance was, as usual, a huge waste of time. And what a glorious relief it was to return home and have the entire issue resolved!

For the record, my time in Myrtle Beach was amazing because I turned these challenges into milestones. There’s nothing like having some relaxing time away with the fresh ocean breeze and a fine glass of wine.

I’d really love to hear some of your milestone moments – what have you noticed is different for you since starting to tap?
