How Conscious EFT™ enhances your brain’s natural creativity

The Science of Creativity and Conscious EFT™

Eleven Years ago, I read an article from Inc. MagazineThe Magazine for Growing Companies — which arrives monthly in my mailbox courtesy of my business coach. I’m always amazed to see how much of what interests the corporate world is also relevant to those of us in the healing and personal development world.

One of my all-time favourite quotes is from Dr. Paul Wiseman, Professor of Biophysical Chemistry at McGill University:

“The most exciting new discoveries of the 21st century lie at the interfaces of disciplines.”

The Inc. article, titled “Science of the Creative Mind,” suggested four creativity boosters for entrepreneurs who want to help their teams unleash creative potential and, in turn, boost productivity. But really, aren’t we all personpreneurs in our own lives — seeking to expand our creativity, fulfillment, and emotional well-being?

The suggestions were:

  • Schedule meetings in the morning

  • Eat a protein-rich breakfast

  • Walk before (or during) meetings

  • Reduce workplace stress

The author tied these ideas to brain chemistry, drawing on the research of Baba Shiv of Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Shiv studies how neural structures influence decision-making and creativity, exploring the biological roots of innovation.

According to his findings, our creative experience lives at the intersection of two key brain pathways — one governed by serotonin and the other by dopamine.

  • Serotonin influences whether we feel calm, grounded, and content — or anxious and reactive.

  • Dopamine affects our sense of motivation, engagement, and excitement.

Optimal creativity happens when both systems are balanced and flowing freely — high levels of serotonin and dopamine. Morning is when serotonin is naturally higher, making it an ideal time for brainstorming or creative meetings. Protein supports the production of both neurotransmitters, while movement — like walking — helps boost serotonin.

And, of course, there’s no better tool than Conscious EFT™ for regulating stress and supporting this natural balance.

When we practice Conscious EFT™, we’re doing more than calming the nervous system in the moment. We’re intentionally building the capacity to stay present, to feel safe in our bodies, and to shift from reactive to responsive states — which, over time, helps restore optimal biological and emotional balance.

A consistent Conscious EFT™ practice — tapping daily to regulate emotions, using it in moments of stress, and applying it gently and safely to resolve deeper patterns — helps strengthen both our sense of calm (serotonin) and engagement (dopamine).

In short, Conscious EFT™ gives us a practical way to translate this fascinating brain research into everyday well-being — expanding not only our creativity but also our resilience and connection to self.

Here’s to calm minds, open hearts, and creative flow. 💛
